Which do you prefer for gaming?
Let's say both are valued at $2500

Gaming laptop with a 17 inch monitor or desktop with a 22-27 inch monitor?

Why?

desktop all day.

Laptops are not the same level of hardware performance as a desktop. typically have poor cooling which also knocks down performance.

Desktop, easy to upgrade and the bigger the monitor the better.
$2500 gets you a pretty decent PC. $2k for the pc, and $500 for monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc....

There are laptops out there now that would rival some desktops. A buddy of mine at work got a new laptop and I got the same one, I got the MSI GS73 STEALTH-016 for about $2,300 and here are the specs:

CPU: i7-8750H 3.9 GHz
Memory: 16 GB (upgradable to 32 GB)
Video card: Nvidia GTX 1070 8G
Display: 17.3 inches
Resolution: 1920x1080 pixels (max)
Hard drive: hybrid drive; 256 GB SSD and a 2 TB plater drive
Weight: 5.35 pounds
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Item Dimensions L x W x H: 16.21 x 11.21 x 0.77 inches

It's a great laptop, it does get hot which is why i also bought the OPOLAR Laptop Fan Cooler to help it with keeping the heat down.

I got that laptop last year, when I look on Amazon where i got it they don't have that model any longer. I looked on MSI's website and they don't have it available any longer but they do have the GS73-Stealth-014, the only difference between this one and the 016 that I have is the HDD. The 014 has a 512 GB SSD instead of the 256 GB that I have. But when you go to Amazon's site, they no longer have that one in stock either.

The one they direct you to is the GS63 that has the Nvidia GTX 1060 for $1,250.
